General Description
Hydraulic swivel motor in rotary van design with one van for 280° swivel angle and two vans for 100° swivel angle. The housing can be configured for flange or foot mounting. with one or two shafts.
The swivel motors of the SS-series comprise a continuous double sided solid shaft. In case of the standard configuration the one side has got a cylindrical shaft, the other a splined shaft. Other options of shafts can be configured and are explained in the configuration key. The SS-series comprises 8 sizes für torque between 366 Nm up to max. 84000 Nm. The max. operating pressure is 210 bar. The swivel angle 100° respectively 280° can be configured.
Function and features
Sealing
The sealing of a swivel motor is a decisive factor for a long lifetime at consitantly high efficiency. rotary vans, separating segments and shaft journals are sealed by glas fibre reinforced teflon sliding gaskets, backed by Perbunan (NBR) or Viton seals in order to give the required pretention.
Teflon material can be used for most of the liquids and gases and can be operated in a temperature range between -40°C and +135°C. The friction coeficient is less than 0,1. The glas fibre reinforced material polishes the metal surface and thus leads to an improvement of the surface and improves the lifetime. All versions comprise an external dust seal, that prevents dirt to penetrate into the bearings. Thus a trouble free operation is ensured.
Angular speed
The max. angular speed is just limited by the oli supply. For high agular speed swivel motors with flange-plate-connection or double pipe connection is recommended. In case of high angular speed and small swivel angles it is important to provide sufficient oil exchange to prevent the motor from local overheating.
Swivel angle limitation
The internal limit stops must not be used as swivel angle limitation. External limit stops need to be used and it is important to provide a smooth deceleration of large masses before reaching the end stop.
Operation fluid
Standard hydraulic oils on mineral oils basis can be used. For other media pls contact the support (suitable sealing material needs to be selected).
Internal leakage
Swivel motor are not free of internal leakage. The following diagram shows the maximum values depending on the pressure difference for new drives. After a short run in period the leakage values are reduced by 50%.
Efficiency
The optimal efficiency of the swivel motor is reached at 80% of the operation pressure. For 1-van drives the max. efficiency is 90% for 2-van drives 95%. The overview of torque values are based on these values. In case the operation pressure is less than 90% of the max. operation pressure you need to consider reduced efficiency values.
Filtration
Swivel drives are insensitive to dirt. In order to extend the lifetime and ensure a maintenance free operation of all hydraulic components a cleanliness level must not exceed 19/16/x according to ISO 4406.
Quality testing
Each motor is tested after assembly. Test pressure is 1.5 times the max. operation pressure. Starting pressure and internal leakage are measured and compared with the specified values.

Details
The swivel motor comes as a cast iron version, size 12 and solid shaft. The motor comprises two shaft ends, one is a splined shaft end, the other is a cylindrical shaft end, both without mounting bore.
The max. swivel angle is 280°. Mounting style is flange mounting, hydraulic ports are configured as threaded port versions. The motor has got Viton seals. The max. torque is 3800 Nm at the max. operating pressure of 210 bar.
